We are excited to let everyone know that there is an art project planned for Powell Park! This is a temporary project made possible by the City of Hamilton’s Placemaking Grant Pilot Program with support from the Patrick J. McNally Charitable Foundation.

On the Stirton side of the park, next to the blue building, we will be adding a mural on the boards attached to the fence.

The artwork has been designed and will be completed by Kyle Joedecki. “Kyle is a Cayuga Woodland artist whose work reflects the stories of his Haudenosaunee cultural heritage. Born in Caledonia, Joedicke grew up in the home of a mother of Scottish descent while his father was a Cayuga and Turtle Clan member from the nearby Six Nations of the Grand River. The content of Joedicke’s painting practice is informed by the Haudenosaunee stories of his background.”
His vibrant, murals share the Indigenous teachings he has been learning and will include painted depictions of the seven animals reflecting the oral history and traditions of Indigenous elders. It will include bright colours and vivid patterning. Kyle Joedicke is a self-taught artist currently based out of Hamilton.
The installation is planned for June of 2022.
