The Municipal Election is on Monday, October 24, 2022

  • May 2, 2022: 1st day for candidates to file a nomination paper for the office of Mayor, Councillor, or School Board Trustee. Also, 1st day for an individual, corporation, or trade union to file a notice of registration as a Third Party Advertiser. 
  • August 19, 2022 @2pm: Deadline for candidates to file their nomination papers, nomination for a different office or withdrawal of nomination.
  • October 21, 2022 @4:30pm: Deadline for an individual, corporation, or trade union to file a notice of registration as a third party advertiser.
  • October 24, 2022: Voting Day

Hamilton voters will elect these offices:

  • Mayor
  • 15 City Councillors
  • 11English Public School Board Trustees
  • 9 English Catholic School Board Trustees
  • 1 French Public School Board Trustee
  • 1 French Catholic School Board Trustee

 

Register to vote in the 2022 Municipal Election at voterlookup.ca

All eligible electors in the City of Hamilton that are interested in voting in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections. An eligible elector is someone who, if on voting day:

  • Resides in the local municipality or are the owner or tenant of land here, or the spouse of an owner or tenant AND

  • Are a Canadian citizen AND 

  • Are at least 18 years old AND 

  • Are not prohibited from voting by law.

You are prohibited from voting if you are:

  • Serving a sentence of imprisonment in a penal or correctional institution;

  • A corporation;

  • Acting as executor or trustee or in any other representative capacity, except as a voting proxy; and

  • Convicted of the corrupt practice described in subsection 90 (3) of the Municipal Elections Act 1996, as amended, if voting day in the current election is less than five years after voting day in the election in respect of which he or she was convicted.
