One of the main characters’ names is Jack a page aka manservant whose commentary is drenched far beyond the obvious parallels between racism and classism. His life begins during the 1770s faced with challenges that involved freedom, identity, and action.
The author’s story is a reflection of a then-young Jamaican boy who grew up in a world of hope coated with life lessons and folklore.
