Dear Neighbours,
Happy 2023!
I hope you were able to find some time to relax and enjoy the holiday season with friends and family and I wish you all the best for a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead.
This month, Council will be deliberate the Capital Budget recommendations and will be hearing from each division of the City as to the Operating Budget. A final public delegation date is also set for Feb 6 and you can contact the City Clerk to register. Council will need to ensure we invest in asset management and support our infrastructure needs as a city while facing a lot of uncertainty about how we pay for new infrastructure now that the province has changed the development charges framework through Bill 23.
During Public Works Committee this month, I will be moving a motion to finally level the berms at Bernie Custis Secondary School. Removal of the berms will ensure students have access to a safe outdoor recreation and physical education space. The removal will be implemented over the summer.
A reminder to stay active this winter. The Serafini Outdoor Ice Pad and community rinks are open. The pad is open until 10pm each evening and is free to access. The weather-dependent, community-led rinks in #OurWard3 can be found at Myrtle, Gage and Woodlands parks.
Last year was quite a busy one and we managed to accomplish so much together! Please keep an eye on your mailbox for the Ward 3 Community Impact Report. Delivery will begin later this month. In addition, our bi-weekly email newsletter has resumed. If you haven’t signed up, please do so by heading to nrinder.ca.
As always, my office remains happy to assist you with any questions or issues you may have accessing municipal services. Please send an email to ward3@hamilton.ca or call us at 905-546-2107.
Yours in Community,
Nrinder Nann
