Nadine Ubl (pronounced You-bull) is a community builder with a passion for small business. Nadine has been connected to Barton Village through numerous community events such as Barton Street Festival and even spent some time living in the BIA.
As a Co-Founder of Steel City Studio, a co-working space for creative based businesses on King Street, Nadine worked to encourage the growth of entrepreneurs and artists in Hamilton while supporting their BIA as an active board member as well as their neighbourhood association.
Nadine has mentored with the city’s Business Enterprise Centre and Hamilton’s Civic Incubator & Community Mentorship Collaborative and has helped many organizations with fundraising, grant writing, and capacity building. These opportunities helped Nadine gain a YWCA Women of distinction nomination and a Business Link Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2019.
Life-long entrepreneurship has led Nadine to participate in many community focused events and initiatives in roles such as Community Outreach Coordinator for PATH Employment Services and Executive Director for local Non Profits such as The Hamilton Tool Library.
A professional career in Human Resources and Health & Safety has armed Nadine with the skills to observe, analyze, strategize, and take action. As a result, Nadine is a resourceful out-of-the box problem solver who sees opportunity in the greatest of challenges and believes that the joy in overcoming challenges comes from facing them together. Diversity, equity and inclusivity are core values of Nadine’s that inform their work and day-to-day life.
Nadine spends downtime with their partner Kathryn and their 2 kids exploring the city, supporting local businesses, cooking, gardening, woodworking, and creating memories with friends and family. New and exciting projects or events are frequent dinner conversations in their home.
In the role of Executive Director of the Barton Village BIA, Nadine hopes to continue the work of building a vibrant and inclusive community through connection and communication.
